When there is too much Sebum in the skin, pores can become blocked with dirt and oil, there is a build up of bacteria and infection can occur, resulting in large, inflamed and painful spots that are symptoms of Acne.
Hormone imbalance is usually the cause of Acne, but there are other factors which may exacerbate the problem.
Skin Hygiene:
It is important to put in place a routine for cleansing and treating the skin. A recommended course of action would be to wash the skin with soap and water twice daily to remove oil and excess dirt. Alternatively, a cleanser containing Palmarosa Oil may help to balance Sebum production in the skin.
Apply an astringent such as Witchazel to clean skin to close up the pores and prevent further clogging. Use a drawing mask once a week to give a deep cleanse to the pores. Clay masks may help here. Keep hair and hands clean.
Detoxifying the Body:
The body excretes toxins through the skin when we sweat, and Acne can be exacerbated by the incomplete release of toxins. Exercise can improve the circulation; the movement of blood through the body assists detoxification and works up a sweat. A diet with plenty of fresh vegetables and plenty of water can reduce and relieve the body’s toxic burden.
Be Gentle to Yourself:
Never scrub your skin harshly or use exfoliators as this can irritate and damage already inflamed skin. Picking or squeezing blemishes further increases the risk of infection and can lead to scarring.
However unhappy you may feel about your appearance when you are suffering from Acne, remind yourself that you are still worthwhile and beautiful, and know that in most cases, sufferers grow out of Acne as they get older and their hormones become balanced.
These simple tips may help your recovery to occur sooner rather than later.
